Support for Parents
Breaking Cycles can empower parents with the skills and confidence they need to manage their children's behavior effectively and set healthy boundaries while maintaining a positive parent-child relationship.
Breaking Cycles encourages active participation. Parents can act out scenarios with actors playing the roles of children and parents. This provides a safe space to experiment with different approaches to discipline and boundary-setting. We support parents to develop essential parenting skills, such as communication, active listening, and empathy, which are crucial for understanding and addressing their children's needs. Parents can gain a better understanding of their emotions and reactions in real-life situations. This self-awareness is crucial for managing their own feelings when dealing with difficult behaviors.
By playing the roles of their children or other parents, participants can develop empathy for their children's perspectives and challenges, leading to more compassionate parenting. Breaking Cycles parental sessions often involve group discussions. This provides an opportunity for parents to share their experiences, learn from each other, and realise that they are not alone in their struggles.
Parents can practice conflict resolution techniques, which can be useful when disagreements or conflicts arise within the family. Observing positive role models can inspire parents to adopt new approaches to discipline and boundary-setting that align with their values.
Our Parental sessions create opportunities for parents to learn in a non-judgmental and safe environment to explore their parenting challenges without fear of criticism. Facilitators and fellow participants can provide constructive feedback and suggestions, helping parents refine their parenting strategies.
